Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

Dsc02218 It’s done, it’s done, the wedding sweater is done! And why does it feel like I knit it twice? Probably because I did. The Lily Chin Grammercy was very frog friendly. The mohair was not, but I didn’t have to take out too much of that. Can’t wait for the bride to see it in real life, but she won’t be home for a week or two.

The "sweater," from White Lies Designs, is more like a full length shrug/bolero in construction, giving it its form fitting appearance. It’s a very pretty look. I changed the lace stitch called for in the original pattern and made the sleeves three quarter length with a ruffled edge. My only complaint is the side seams, which in lace, always look bulky compared to the body fabric. Now bring on that wedding. Maybe not today, it’s going to be in the mid 30’s (high 90’s in F), a rarity in Vancouver. Thank goodness it’s three weeks away.

At least it won’t be wedding day hot like in New Hampshire 12 years ago where it was 105 on June 18th and no air conditioning in the Greek church where the wedding ceremony went on forever! BEAUTIFUL sweater! Can’t wait to see it on the bride! 3 weeks ….. YIKES!!!

Wow…what a gorgeous sweater. I would love a copy of the pattern.
As for the heat in Vancouver–yes, it is rare–I grew up in Richmond, and in summer, rarely saw temps over 20 C.

Li, Did you make the UPS change? Let me know. Also, will Gracie get dressed up for the wedding and attend. She should wear the same type of shear bow as the bride. But no sweater it would be too hot for her.

Well, it’s just perfectly lovely, Li. Your sweater will complete the perfect bride! Oh, and those poppies are beautiful…if you ever want to send me purple poppy seeds, I’d be glad to plant them in WNY!
