Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

I was fortunate to take a course with world famous artist Jean Haines, whose loose, ethereal style melts subjects into nothingness. My style is so realistic or illustrative and I was looking forward to pushing the boundaries beyond my comfort zone. I did this painting of my first Scottie, MacTavish and sent a off picture to my adult children. One replied "Cool!!!," while the other two said "Creepy." I'll not identify the owner of each opinion as a matter of respect.

C came up with a brilliant idea. Do another painting, but instead of leaving half the paper white, paint in a drape as if Mac is peeking from behind. I like that idea so long as I don't have to change the original, complete with Jean Haines signature drip. It was fun watching Mackey come back to life.

Next time: the monumental task – sorting and packing through 18 years of stuff.

hahahaha, I have 1/2 a dog painting too as a result of the Jean Haines workshop.
    I like C’s idea.
I don’t envy you sorting and packing 18 years of stuff. where are you going? I had to sort and pack 27 years of stuff and now I wish I had thrown most of it away.

I like the picture but must admit I would like it better with the drape idea. I don’t envy you packing or moving!!!Is your house sold or??? and where will you go first??? We moved a few times from Texas to the condo and the condo to here. I think we have about 10% of the stuff left and it’s just great. Some of the things are at each of our kidshouses and granddaughter has some things. I don’t miss any of it. The big mistake was the Texas move we brought SO much stuff and packed and moved it all then quickly pared it down to a much lesser amount. Should have gotten rid of a lot more things fro the move from Tx back to Cal. Live and learn I guess.

Did you not learn from our cleaning out Mom’s place? Only kidding! Ever since the time you and I had the task of cleaning out Mom’s apartment and find 7 menorahs, whizzies and countless Christmas sweaters I have been unloading crap by the bags full so it won’t be a monumental task when it’s time to downsize. Good luck and take till every once in a while to stop and smell the roses ❤

Brilliant exploration. Just saw Twelfth Night at our UFV done in the style of Burning Man. Thanks to you, I knew what they were reaching for.

I find the Mackey painting interesting, but do like the idea of him peeking from behind a drape.
