Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

Time for more painting. My watercolour teacher shares my love of trees. In his class I have painted birches, black oaks, fir trees, deciduous trees, palms, trees in winter, some in summer, the gamut. Walking in my daughter's neighbourhood in Calgary I spied a tree that I had to try on my own:

It's a Chokecherry. I have a thing for painting trees and houses, I'm going to concentrate on those for awhile. In between knitting, that is.

Li, you are getting really good at this painting. Keep it up. You have so much talent. We will miss you in Maine. We have like 12 alumni going. Check out Green Hut Galleries and Left Bank Galleries and click on Mary Bourke. She does lovely, whimsical paintings, has sold 11 of them (one entitled “Warm Jackets”) to Chris Gawyrich. Mary Bourke just landed the cover of the Holiday issue of L.L. Bean which comes out in early November. I bet if I checked their circulation, it would be in the hundreds of thousands. She wants to take a look at two of the kids books I wrote and see if she wants to illustrate them. Her late brother Billy who passed in 1985 was friends with Jay Lynch and Jon Monaghan from Port Washington.
