It’s beginning to look a bit like Christmas

Once again, and in consideration of the this year's blue Christmas, we are going for minimalism. I'm liking it. The best part for me is the cleanup. The ceramic Christmas tree and Nativity take about five minutes of work to dismantle. The essence of the holiday without the stress.

We're still hosting our annual Danish Julefrokost for 16. In preparation, and in recognition of our mixed heritages, we hit our favourite Polish deli:

Two kinds of sausage - double and triple smoked, rye bread, pickled beets, red cabbage, ginger bread cookies, marzipan and poppy seed cake. All that's left are the fish, cheese and the akvavit. Skoal!

    Merry Christmas, even if they are blue Christmas this year!
    We used to have home made sausages, and home made bread for Christmas Eve. I would still serve this, if I could get it. Best of times.

    Yum! I have that same ceramic tree. My mom made it decades ago when she got into doing ceramics one year. It makes me smile to plug it in every single year.

    Hi Li! Sounds like a great evening. Merry Christmas!! I’m visiting YVR for the holidays – no snow!! Bur then, there’s no snow in Ottawa either!! Daisy and I were just talking about our cross-border caper a few years ago – meeting strangers we had only met on the internet!!
