Meet the Zauberball. Translates to Crazy Ball and the colour translation is Tropical Fish. To complicate matters, this particular style is called Crazy Zauberball, meaning Crazy Crazy Ball. It fits:

I had always wanted to try the Zauberball, but couldn't justify the going price. Blogless Masha and I lucked into two balls in the sale bin at Hellen's in Mount Vernon, WA. It reminds me of Kauni yarn, only much softer. This ball is magically turning into a crocheted scarfy/kerchief version of the Scarlet Evening Shawl. Don't let the Russian writing scare you, the diagram and photos are easy to follow.

I am appropriately crazy about this yarn – very high in the just one more row factor.

Very pretty – it doesn’t look at all like the yarn on the ball. Although the wound ball is a work of art in itself.

I love how the colors fall into play. One can’t say enough about color! (sigh) Personally, I get lost viewing yarn, it just takes me to a happy place. It’s better than Calgon.

i saw a gorgeous purple/grey one at my LYS yesterday morning. $20 at full price, with no project for it, so the yarn stayed at the LYS for another week or so…. after my tax return gets in, it’ll probably get adopted to come live with me.

Great way to bring out those great colours! I love the Zauberbälle, too (and it’s easy to get your hands on them here in Germany… just to make you that little bit envious :))
BTW I happened upon your blog via Ravelry and the Herringbone Rib Scarf. I’d love to have that pattern – if you would please email it to nutellamonsterhotmail.com, I’d be much obliged. Thanks lots!

Love the Zauberball. My mom bought me a ball at a very posh knitting emorium in NH last summer (spoils to console me for spending the same period roasting in GA) and I just started socks – the color I got is a purple long fade or orange. WILD!
