Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

Skunked!The picture of misery:

IMG_0078

Gracee Mae bit the butt of a skunk and this is what she got in return. A direct hit to the face. If anything positive can come from this experience, it's the opportunity to share our recipe for the definitive skunk smell neutralizer:

Forget the tomato juice and expensive enzyme solutions. Use this, it
works every time: about 1/4 cup of baking soda, a good squirt of dish
detergent, and 1/2 cup of peroxide. Mix it and work it well into the
coat. Rinse well. We don’t even measure anymore, just pour on the
ingredients and go to it. (NOTE: this must be mixed fresh each time, it
will lose its effectiveness if stored.)

The antithesis of Grace's misery photo, is one of daughter #1's cat, Chompers, held by daughter #2:

I am not a cat person and was not a fan of Chompers after he bit me in his kitty youth. Now that he's mellowed, even we are friends.

Oh, gah! We have skunks galore, and they’re so bold they don’t run away when I’m out walking the dogs, who seem to think they’re funny cats. I live in fear of trying to de-skunk three big dogs. Poor Gracie!

Poor Gracie! There’s been no shortage of skunks in the neighbourhood this year but, touch wood, Miles hasn’t tried to make friends with one so far.
Was Chompers given his name before or after he ‘chomped’ you? 😉

Phew, poor Gracee! I hope she closed her eyes, that stuff is powerful. Thanks for sharing the recipe though I hope never to have to use it.
Chompers is a handsome guy with an air of mischief about him.

Oh Gracee, such a sad face.
Not to worry Mum has everything under control.
Now we just need to relocate all those nasty skunks.

P U … some years back, one of the Westie folks shared her cure which the vet had given her – Massengill douche. Which does work, because Westies, like Scotties just will NOT learn to distinguish one varmint from another.

Awwww! Poor Gracee. I can’t imagine being sprayed in the face. So is Chompers named that because he bites?
