Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

No, no, no, not that one, which I feared without reason. After 23 years of desktop home computing we are changing from this:
Dell
To this:

Can't afford to do both the laptop and the desktop, but most of my blogging is desktop based. I am loving the idea of cable free computing, but I fear compatibility issues. I guess life is like that.

Someone please reassure me.

IMG_0440 Since my yarn buying will be severely curtailed with the above purchase, I am especially appreciative of the prize I won in Kristen's (Audioknits) blog contest. Nine skeins of Scarabeo – an Italian ribbon yarn. Destined to be a shawl or scarves, which she realized are not her forte, she so generously gave them away.Thank you (again!), Kristen.

I made that jump a couple of years ago… and I’m a microsoft developer. Welcome! With either Boot Camp or Parallels you can run everyone on a Mac that you can on a PC, including Windows. I have my MS Visual Studio installed on Win XP via Parallels.

You’ll do fine once you figure out where everything is. We have both at our house with a little Linux mixed in so when I sit down I have to remember what to do with each OS. The hardest thing for me was going from left/right mouse buttons to only one button.

I made the switch about 6 years ago and I will never, ever go back! Once you get over a (very) little learning curve, you are going to love it. Since I got my new MacBook, I installed Windows for those few programs that don’t use the Mac platform (mostly my Bernina programs). I constantly go back and forth between PC’s at work and Mac at home. Keep us posted on your progress!

We have two Macs. We really love them. We just got the 24 inch desktop two weeks ago and I can’t tell you how nice it is to really see everything in clear detail on this large screen.

Hey, I got an idea from a knitting fic book (Yes, I’m obsessed) about ribbon yarn. Use it to make a tank-top! Unless you live in an amazingly cold place during the winter, tank tops are a nice way to use up ribbon yarn, instead of just scarves and shawls. and hey, summer’s on the way, right?

We gave up Windows last summer after a very nasty virus and moved over to Linux until we had the money to buy a new Mac. We love the Mac, a desk top. It was easy to learn. Things are just in different places and the one button mouse takes some getting used to. I don’t think we’ll ever go back.

We’re a two Mac household as well. I absolutely love mine, and hate that I have to use PCs at work. I finally convinced my guy to get one as well, and he loves it too.
