Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

You know how kids slip stuff into the shopping cart when you're not looking? They never outgrow it. I took three 18 yr olds down to WA with me a few weeks back. We always stop at the local Fred Meyer for the weekend's groceries. You DON'T want to get caught at the border with anything uncooked, but that's a story for another time.

At the checkout I discover I've paid for Fruity Pebbles, a six pack of Pabst and frozen White Castle hamburgers. Yesterday B saw these:

Grapples, that would be grape flavoured apples. Grape flavoured apples at a buck a piece. I had heard about interesting fruit crosses and this one intrigued me so I gave in. I should have read the label. They are nothing more than mere apples infused with artificial flavouring. They weren't too bad, like eating apples and washing them down with grape drink.

Much older and presumably wiser, C slipped this in today at our local Italian grocery store. Ah, Bosa Foods, but that, too, is another story:

His weakness. Not a battle I'm choosing to fight this time. It was only 35 grams of bad.

I slipped something into my cart this week, too. My e-bay cart. A bag of Noro Silk Garden in one of the lighter colourways, perfect for a springy Lady Eleanor the Second. I'll show you a picture when it gets here. We all need to cheat with a treat now and then.

In getting that into your cart did you have to “grapple” with it??? I crack myself up!
Or, was it so far out of reach you had to use a “grappling” hook to reach it??? HaHaHa!!! I am so funny, Not!
Can’t wait to see the silk garden. I am looking for some self striping, but now I can’t remember why I wanted it!!! Oh well.

Ive been tempted by the Grapples myself, but did read the packaging before purchasing, and couldn’t bring myself to do it because of the artifical flavoring, it just seemed wrong.
Noro Silk gArden, love it, just wish the yarn was higher quality for the price. I always find a million knots. Hopefully you’ll have better luck!

Ahhh, Bosa’s….I could spend every day there. Reminds me of the ‘supermarkets’ in Italy.

Silk Garden is worth cheating for.
And I guess “uncooked” is still a no-no at the crossing? When we came back from Kelowna a couple of years ago, we were all worried because we had way more wine than allowed, and a dog in the back seat. All the border guy was concerned about was whether we had any raw beef.

Oh,and PBR??? You need to teach your kids that if they are going to try to slip beer into your cart, at least they could get good beer. 🙂

LOL- that’s exactly what’s happening when grocery shopping with my kids. They do it more now, than when they were little kids.
Ewww-flavoured apples! I hate artificial grape flavour.

Yes, grocery store trips are always way more expensive when the kids come along. Mmmm, except when I go shopping on my own with an empty stomach. The cart is always full of snack foods then. The kids can tell now. Uh, you were hungry weren’t you, Mommy? when the 5th bag of cookies gets put away. I tried those Grapples and was disappointed.
