Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

I'm sure this has been abbreviated to a shorter commercial in the US, but we don't subscribe to TV, and this Internet version just cracked me up.

No expectations for gifts at our house this year as we've agreed to do something different. I've always advocated celebrating the non religious parts of Christmas every other year. More on that in another post.

But in terms of gift giving in general, it is pretty depressing around here. My non-profit society runs the charity gift wrap booth at our mall, as our major fund raiser, and business is down 40% from last year. We feature eco-friendly products so it's not about adding to the landfill. A friend's retail shop is experiencing 50% fewer sales this year, I just heard that the Salvation Army's kettle campaign in my town is down 60%, and aren't you noticing more yarn shops going out of business?

I wonder if this will go on long enough to have a significant impact on our comsumeristic society? Maybe it will be a good thing and we'll have to do a better job with less and depend upon each other more like in times long ago? You can see my years in social services bleeding through, can't you? OK, I'll stop.

Someone recently comments that Gracee hasn't made an appearance in a long time.So here she is doing her two favourite tricks:

Gracee, can you crawl?

And balancing a treat on her nose:

Can I eat it now?

Couldn't get a picture of her tossing and eating it – she's way too fast!

(For those looking for the Herringbone Rib pattern – please leave a comment and I will e-mail you the pattern right after Christmas.)

I work with Sanat at our local mall it it’s been very slow! The stores on either side of us are going out of bussiness and the trafic inside the mall is way down. Very depressing! So hows the sunshine in Central America? Enjoy Christmas holiday down south!

Thanks for the video clip – it did crack me up. I also sent it to several friends of the male persuasion.

LOL, that’s why the husband does not buy me any more presents! Wish I could opt out of Christmas, but this is the first time we’re home in 8 years and there was no chance of that.
Loved the last pic of Gracie!

We’ve cut way back on gifts this year. It’s a happier and stress free Christmas. I wish we had cut back years sooner. I’d love a copy of the Herringbone rib pattern.

I actually asked for a new blender, and/or a cuisinart and a weight watchers cook book. I finally am learning how to cook after all of these years. What is up with that:?!!!! The little commerical is so cute and gave me alot of laughs I can’t wait to show Tony who is painting upstairs at this late date. We have no tree yet and he hasn’t done Xmas shopping. LIFE WITH THE MOTHER-IN-LAW has been awful during the holidays. Love photos of Gracie. They are more contest winners.

I’ve heard some complaints that the commercial is sexist, but I think it is a hoot! Hubby actually showed it to me – he loved it too. Gracee looks so patient with the treat – we really do need to teach that to Maggie.

Saw that video clip on Knitting on Impulse’s blog and got quite a laugh.
Hope your patient got the go ahead to fly and you are all relaxing on a sunny beach! (and NOT shoveling out under a foot of snow)
    Merry Christmas!

Someone just sent this to my husband and we had a good laugh over it because we decided not to exchange gifts this year, spending money on a living room update instead. He looked at me and said, “you’re sure about the no gift thing, right?” LOL. Looking forward to your herringbone scarf pattern.
    Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the Gracie pictures. She is a lovely companion and comfort in the cold weather. My Sunday School rolled pennies for our local perinatal at risk group, Better Beginnings. The 4-10 year olds were able to think about a child born to poverty is still a special blessing.

I’m so happy to see Gracie again. What a cutie!
Its depressing, I think I’ll think about it tomorrow. In the wise tradition of Scarlett O’Hara
