Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

I'm a knitter and this is a knitting blog. I remember when I first started following others in blogland, being turned off by those who displayed too much of the single hook stuff. So, self identified regulars and lurkers, I've been afraid to show too much of the alternative yarn art, for fear of losing you. This closet crocheter has two WIP's on the hook. That's the start of a Round Ripple Afghan, on the left, made with the yarn from the basket below. Fear not, there are still six (!) on the needles.

There, I've said it in public. Do you hate me? Are we still on speaking terms or have I lost you forever?

I’m still thinking about it. Maybe I’ll come back, just don’t let this happen too often! ;o)

Nah, I don’t hate you. Between you and me … I have picked up the hooked needle once in a blue moon.
How could you hate crochet … that pattern is so pretty! Nice colors too.

    Careful, careful.
You should check out “Antonina” on Ravelry – she puts crochet on a whole different level.

I don’t crochet anymore because of a hand injury, but it helped me develop good left hand co-ordination for learning continental knitting. We can still revel in the colour and the yarn, regardless of the format.

Hey, if I haven’t completely lost readers from putting politics on my blog now and then, you should be more than safe. I say show your hooker ways! Anyone who doesn’t stay isn’t here for you anyway.

Well, as long as you try and keep it mostly in the closet I think I may be able to handle it.

I think your blog is like a lot I follow – I may have started reading because it was a knitting blog, but I’ve kept up because I consider you a friend, even if you do crochet. So keep posting about ALL you’re doing! We wanna know!!

I’m bicraftual, too, although I prefer knitting. I started out crocheting (like 12 years earlier than knitting), but like the look of knitted clothing better. Crochet rocks for afghans and edgings, though. Good for you for coming out of the (crochet) closet!

Quite the contrary – I’m envious of you. I wish I knew how to crochet.

No worries – I crochet almost all my baby blankets because I think they look nicer that way.

Well, I’ll forgive you this once 🙂
Actually I do like crocheted items, especially doileys and tablecloths, but I can’t read a crochet pattern to save my life!

I had to laugh at Toni’s comment about being bi-crafted. Crochet skills add to our diversity as knitters, so I’m glad you’ve come out, especially to show us such a pretty afghan. Every now and then I pick up the hook, too, so you’re not alone!
