Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

100% knitting content ahead, I owe it to you as this is really a knitting blog and you’ve been very patient with the antics of a certain 17 year old boy. So, on to the knitting front…

Stash? I have no stash, because I learned way back when, in training for the field of social work and counselling, if it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen. That’s why you’ll see no stash on Ravelry.

At our North Vancouver Ravelry group knit night this week someone pointed to another member saying "SHE has a problem, her stash now involves storage."

"Oh yes," I say innocently, "I can relate, I bought two plastic chests of drawers to store my stash."

"No," replies other member, the guilty party now sliding more deeply into her chair, "I mean storage as in a storage unit with monthly rent." Now that’s a stash.

Keeping true to my promise to finish up an item or two, here’s my completed Landscape Scarf #2. I made this one larger by adding an additional stitch pattern – Sand Stitch. It’s soft soft Mountain Colors Bearfoot yarn and took me an entire weekend to complete. I believe it was an act of revenge for having ignored it for so long in its near finished state. I hope Marina isn’t as vindictive or I may be posting from the ER.

OK I lied. Here’s a non knitting content photo. What could be more cozy than a dog curled up under a chair by a fire? In our climate, with recent persistent rain, this picture makes me happy. And you thought the lie was about my stash.

Oh my God, she needed a rented storage unit?! That makes me feel so much better about my stash… And pets are considered a staple of a knitting blog…

Oh, lovely! I must make one!! Add it to the queue of 15 other shawls I “must” make!

Paying to store your stash??? Now, that’s just wrong. You could use that money to buy more yarn. Wait, that would just make it worse. How about a modeling shot of the scarf? I’m still intrigued by it, but I admit to being a little handicapped when wearing scarves. I just can’t seem to carry them off and I’d like to see this one “in action”, so to speak. And somehow, in our world, puppy pictures count as knitting content. Not sure how or why that works, but it does.

Mine hasn’t reached storage unity size. Yet. It does occupy most of a wall. But I live alone so it’s all good! LOL

I like the landscape shawl. I must give it another try. I just didn’t get the picot edge, and made a thousand mistakes with the changing stitch patterns. Yours is lovely in this colorway! What an adorable picture of Gracie! Now, that’s really a stash, a storage unitl for yarn – wow! Now I’m not feeling so bad about my own stash, which is hidden in all kinds of places around the house, so nobody would get suspicious! :o)

How do you hide the bills for the storage? Gracie shots make me happy! And I’d also like to see the scarf modelled to find out its size. I adore Mountain Colours for its softness and Helen is so kind in Mt. Vernon.

I know a blogger, who shall remain nameless (no, it’s not me), who has a large (30-foot?) construction trailer on her property to house her stash. I’ve never seen it in person, but I’ve seen pictures. She has more yarn than a well-stocked yarn store. Seriously. Since then, I haven’t felt at all guilty about my stash. It’s all relative.

Your Landscape shawl came out great.
I also stopped documenting my stash, why should anyone else than me have to know what I have in my closets LOL.

Wow! The Landscapes scarf is gorgeous. That yarn sounds nice, too. Too funny about the storage unit for yarn. I’ll bet some of your readers raised their eyebrows and said, “hmmm…not a bad idea…” You know there are probable lots of us with monumental stashes.

Beautiful dog, beautiful scarves, beautiful sweater!
And let’s not talk about stashes. I could fund a year-long trip to Europe with mine……
