Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

I know it’s officially Fall in BC when I look out the window and see mist rising off the Capilano River. Another symptom? Spectacular sunsets.

But soon the rains will set in. In my past, before I accepted my current position in the non-profit world, I was contemplating opening a practice in Seasonal Affective Disorder. I had done my research, bought a light and was set to go, when this opportunity intervened. I was talking about it with some of my co-workers and they’ve asked me to bring in the light, so they can check it out. I’ve decided to go one better, purchase a light and have it available for employees’ use during the day. Maybe I should have Gracee try it out first:

Poor girl looks at the end of her dreary weather rope. I promise, promise, promise that I will learn how to get rid of that "peteye." New buttonholes were all that I could manage this week. Is the knitting content in the photo enough to make this qualify as a knitting blog?

Poor Gracie needs that light and quick! I heard some one say on a radio talk show that a lizard light from the pet store works and is alot cheaper. Or maybe they were pullin my leg! It’s that Lesinski in me coming out…… Always looking for a bargin! And speaking of bargins, can’t I just buy the yarn for the vest and not buy an actual kit ?

Oh man. I worked in Russia for a couple of years, and the winters were killer. It was only light for about four hours a day, and I spent all of them in a windowless office. I couldn’t figure out why I was so miserable and (suicidally) depressed. I thought it was my job, but it didn’t bother me that much in the warmer months. It wasn’t until years later that I heard about SAD. Fortunately, I live in San Diego now, so it’s not much of a problem for me anymore!

I seem to manage OK until about February when I feel I am underground. I am looking at getting an OTT light. Does that count?
I love the sunsets and the spooky fog in the cornfields!

I was surprised to find how many people have SAD. Although I don’t think I have it, I’ve wondered if having a light would enhance my indoor environment.

Interestng, seasonal affective. I think my brother is that. Schizo-affective? Is there a difference? How do they really know? I’ve been wondering.

Who needs knitting content when you have that face staring at you from your computer monitor? I don’ t care if Gracie is a bad girl, she is an adorable bad girl.

What a pretty sunset photo. There’s no good views of the sunset near me – they’re all draped with power lines. 😦
