My dentist’s assistant asked me if I’d be able to tolerate a minute with trays of impression material in my mouth. I told her I would view it as I did labor, it’s only 60 seconds of my life. Actually labor was 10 to 21 hours of my life depending upon which instance, but that’s not much compared to a lifetime. The woman looked at me like I had two heads, incredulous that I’d compare a visit to the dentist with labor. I reminded her that I’m the sick puppy who once said I go to the dentist for peace and quiet. Looking back, my life at that time must have been mayhem.

Img_1264_2This is my second Landscape Scarf, made with the Mountain Colors mill ends of my last post. I thought I’d be smart and make it a little larger than the pattern’s instructions. I thought that I had memorized the rhythm of the pattern and no longer needed to refer to it. And I thought I could get by without counting stitches each row. I thought wrong. Cousin Lena observed that I’ve spent as much time on this scarf as I spent on her entire shawl. It’s only a couple of hours of my life.

How can you compare labor with the dentist? I’d rather go thru labor ANY day!!
(can you tell I hate the dentist?)

I must be a sick puppy too. Despite many dental procedures, I still don’t mind going to the dentist. I’m lucky I don’t fall asleep in the chair. When the kids were little it was one place I could lie back and not be bothered.

I’m not sure where the appropriate place to post this, but I love your Herringbone Rib Scarf. Can I please please get the pattern for that scarf? If it’s easy enough (I’m a newbie), I would like my mother in law this scarf for christmas. THank you.

My favorite line that my boss ( a dentist) said once to a woman who said she rather be birthing a baby then be at the dentist was ” Just let me know which way to adjust the chair”!

I had a dentist appointment this past week & I was actually looking forward to the time off and just sitting in a chair. Hectic life , I guess.
My dentist’s famous line is; ‘when I was a young boy I dreamed of women getting all anxious and sweaty when they would see me…now I do, but unfortunately, not in the same sense as I had imagined as a young boy’…….
By the way, love that scarf and I have some of that Bearfoot in the same colorway.

Yeah, ’tis a tricky one! I like the yarn you use for this shawl. Hope it doesn’t bug you too much!

I hate going to the dentist….and I hate impressions. I have a hard time not gagging. Ugh. Although I would take impressions over labor any day because I wouldn’t have to leave the dentist’s office with a little bundle of joy.
