Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

Just a quick post. This has been a hellish week at work.

I was talking to a co-worker who had recently signed up for Weight Watchers with her husband. At the first meeting he observed "Wow, this is a great place to meet motivated women." We chuckled at his idea for a pre-emptive strike. They’re motivated and you know they’ll look even better in a couple of months. Scary, I actually hired this guy once many years ago. Really, he is a very decent man who merely identified an opportunity. I can see him recruiting his single pals for the next meeting.

On the size front I think my head is disproportionately small compared to my middle parts, so it doesn’t take much yarn to make a hat. This is a beret made from Twilley’s Freedom Spirit, really lovely 100% wool yarn from England. I haven’t been able to find a Canadian source:

That is a great yarn – I made mittens from it this winter.

Oh, that WW item made me laugh. It reminds me of the episode of Sex and the City where Miranda meets a man at a WW meeting. I guess, at the end of the day, it’s okay if he recruits single men to come to WW to meet motivated women, as long as the men are willing to accept women for who and what they are now. And there are quite a few men out there who could benefit from getting with the WW program, too, so it might be good all around.

All I can say is it certainly beats meeting women in bars! Your tam is lovely – any chance of a model shot?

Do you recognize that hat? It looks like the same shape as the St. Mary’s Elementary School uniform hat we had in a grow grain polyester. That must be your inspiration. Didn’t Mrs. BUtterfield use to wear barets.

I love your beret. A little black mink number would complement your hat collection, I think.

I too have a head that is smaller than my midsection – and my head keeps shrinking the older I get! LOL The beret is absolutely gorgeous as is the pattern.

I was a WW leader and loved the motivated ladies. The men didn’t usually buy in as completely, but they had more astonishing weight loss. Darn them. Lovely one-of-a-kind tam!
