Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

How do you lose underwear? This isn’t a thong I’m talking about, really, can you see me in a thong? Nor is it my usual all cotton granny panties. This is the body shaper I bought for my daughter’s wedding this summer. One of those satiny stretchy torture devices that goes from underneath the girls to halfway down the thighs. It’s the steamroller of body bulge, major cosmetic surgery in a foundation (that’s what they called the lingerie department in my younger days – foundations).

Since the wedding I’ve had two opportunities to benefit from this miracle worker but I can’t find it anywhere. "No doubt" say those familiar with my house, the place famous for task oriented clutter. It ‘s been swallowed up by the gremlins. You know when I’ll find it? A few years down the road, when it no longer fits, while I’m searching for something totally unrelated. Isn’t that how it goes?

Branching_outMy knitting clutter is slowly dissipating as I present to you another FO. This isn’t the best picture of Knitty’s Branching Out, lace-wise, but I thought the colours looked great against our wild huckleberry bush. It’s made from Handmaiden Silk Maiden. There is a slight mistake in the first third, discovered as I was finishing, where one set of leaves is smaller than the others, the result of missing a line in the chart. But I’m taking a lesson from my water colour teacher. If a student is concerned about a funny looking leaf in a painting, he’ll remind us that nature is not perfect; there’s a certain amount of beauty in imperfection. Works for me.

Just gorgeous; serious competition for the huckleberry bush. And Lady Eleanor is a beauty.

TMI, but I’m beginning to think I need one of those if I ever want to want some of my clothes!
    It’s beautiful. Love those colours.

The scarf is gorgeous! No one will notice the mistake if you do not point it out. But that is the hard part, isn’t it?
    🙂
good luck finding your underwear. I never thought I’d say to you!

I love the colors of that scarf, they are perfect autumn leaves, lovely 🙂 I found your blog through Sandy’s Knitting where I saw her Herringbone Ribbed scarf and have enjoyed looking at all your knitting. I would love the pattern of the scarf if you get a chance.

When things disappear in our family, we proclaim that they’re in a “safe place.” Seriously, everyone in our family knows and uses this phrase.

Damn, you are on a FO roll girl. I’m with you on the imperfection bit, reminds me that we are all human and flawed in some way, but no less lovable or appreciated.

Only humans can make something so perfectly imperfect. My non-knitting friend Ann reminds me to think of Japanese pottery and the difference between hand made and perfect. What is the goal.
I love the “task oriented clutter.” I too require to keep projects “In Play” but I hope that doesn’t include the underwear.

Beautiful scarf! I love those colors.
Your “foundation” garment is probably in the same place as my one strapless bra, the one I have to wear once a decade with a fancy dress I have. It seems to have disappeared. John is pretty sure that nobody would sneak in my house and steal JUST my strapless bra.

Love your term: task-oriented clutter. Mine is becoming a major task in itself, and I’m hoping to unearth some things I know I have … And your new scarf is quite wonderful, “mistake” and all. Happily, “Sandy sent me,” and I too would be grateful for a copy of the Herringbone Rib scarf pattern. Looking at all the renditions, it began to echo the Clapotis after a while. The HR seems a lot more adaptable, though. Hope your holiday was good — before Sandy gave you this extra task (should you have time and inclination to respond to it). Thank you.

Lovely scarf. Hmm, something for that skein of SeaSilk in the stash. The picture must have been taken before the Big Snow, I guess. Thanks for sharing your photos and thoughts, it keeps the rest of us motivated.

Usually when things disappear in my house it’s because hubby has been “cleaning”. His idea of cleaning is putting things out of sight where you would never think to look for them.

Oh I love branching out pattern – I’ve made 3 scarves with that pattern (2 were gifts.) It’s quick and fun. The one for myself was with Blue Sky Alpaca and Silk in a pale green. Someday I’ll get around to taking a photo of it.

Wow look at all those requests for your beautiful pattern. I love your FO I’m not sure whats prettier, the beauty of nature, or the beauty rivaling nature. Thank you for lesson perspective – it’s a great reminder. I cast on the scarf and we have a keeper – I’ll be posting later this week or the weekend with it.
So…I lost my keyless entry to MFB’s car – had no idea when. Couldn’t find it for months. Our first trip out to the driving range in the spring and I open the padded zippered pouch on the golf bag where I put my jewelry when I’m swinging a club. I pull out a keyless entry and ask MFB why he put his keys in my bag. You should have seen the look on his face. We had torn the house apart over the winter looking for it. We just didn’t take things out of storage!!
If you golf, you might want to look in your golf bag. Of course I’m laughing already if you would actually find THAT in a golf bag. Sorry I’m rambling. Must stop.
