Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

…and washed Vancouver out. This is our sky earlier this week and the same sky a minute later. And that’s how it’s looked since, day and night:

This weather system is known as the Pineapple express, a storm system out of Hawaii. What’s worse than experiencing the Pineapple Express in Vancouver? Experiencing it in Hawaii on your honeymoon like my daughter and new husband did. They have just returned and even their "rain or shine" activities were cancelled. Now, what’s worse than experiencing the Pineapple Express on your honeymoon? Living through it again in Saskatchewan, if the temperatures are low enough, to turn it to snow. Get your shovels out, Elina and Sean.

Img_0456Without any natural light, it’s been difficult photographing Lady Eleanor, so instead I give you my travel project from the Wisconsin/Minnesota trip. It’s Branching Out in Maiden Silk by Handmaiden Yarns. The colours were a perfect match of the maples in nearby Edgemont Village a few weeks back, future home to Urban Yarn’s second location. That’s BIG NEWS for those of us on the North Shore. A full sized yarn shop within walking distance! OK it’s a long walk, but it’ll be worth it.

We’re still digging out down here. We had severe wind gusts yesterday and were without power for over 12 hours. Not too bad – at first they were saying power wouldn’t be restored for two days! But we powered up the generator and few oil lamps and I spent some relaxing time knitting. The Branching Out is wonderful – reminds me of fall in New England.

Yes, I heard about the horrible in Vancouver and heard about roofs caving in! Strange… as Toronto has been having somewhat cold (2 degrees) but relatively nice weather (until today – RAIN RAIN RAIN). Global warming?

OH no! That’s definitely something one wouldn’t want to experience.
The colors in that scarf are just beautiful.

How about flying in that weather! That is what Tony and I did tonight from Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, Florida. He was suppose to then fly off to Pittsburgh but that flight was cancelled. The planes were lined up at LaGuardia waiting for the passing storm clouds. There we no smiling pilots only intense ones. The place itself is gorgeous. I will e-mail you with the details. What a story about Bryant’s nose ring. I see you are in the rock n roll band era now. Have fun.

    Hi,
The scarf is as pretty as I remember!
Weather here is grey, grey, grey. Not as much rain as in Vancouver (must be really terrible!) but dull. Can hardly wait till spring comes. Guess I’ll put lights out upon the bush by the front door.
I’m so glad the chocolate cake and ‘Emma’ was one of your five favourites!
Love to all of you from Lene
