Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

I saw a meme where people are listing five of their strange habits. This has provided a fair amount of discussion in my house. The ones I’m ready to admit to:

1. I love boxes and have a hard time throwing them out, especially shoe boxes. I was in box heaven when I worked at Lord and Taylor in New York in high school in the gift wrapping department.

2.I prefer food for breakfast that would normally be served at other meals. Forget cereal. Give me pizza or a cheeseburger.

3. I pat cute dogs on the head with my cursor.

4. I talk to animals in a way I’d expect them to sound if they spoke English.

5. I park in the same space every time I go to a mall or store. It’s usually an out of the way space, one nobody wants, but I always remember where my car is.

My son says to expect hits to my blog to go down to nothing after this post 😉

Here’s a dog for you to pat and talk to. Try it, my lips are sealed:

I’ve started a Herringbone Ribster roster (say that three times fast) and gallery on my right sidebar. I’ve sent out a dozen patterns, so if you have one, please send me a photo when you’re done and I’ll post it. If you know of anyone who wants the pattern, please send them my way.

Now that I’ve got my new camera, maybe I’ll try for a better photo for you! 🙂
Patting pup’s heads with the cursor? That is one I’d truly never heard of.

I’m with you on numbers 2, 4, and 5 but I don’t think I’d ever patted a dog on the head with my cursor until today 🙂

Never fear, you haven’t scared me away (yet). I tried patting the pup on the head, but he said he liked being scratched behind the ears with my cursor better. Maybe it’s because I’m on a Mac. And if you think I’m going to admit to my 5 wierd habits . . . . .

    Hi Li,
I love your dog. I know he’s not a wire-haired terrier, but he reminds me of mine. I miss Asta (not very original, but the “Thin Man” movies is where I fell in love with wire-haired terriers). I’ve been chomping at the bit to get your beautiful scarf pattern that is done in the Herringbone Rib stitch. May I please??

Maybe it’s hereditary, I think I’ve pet dogs with cursors too. I made a whole list last year that I called “quirky” of all the strange things about me. Topping the list were things like, I like to wait for my cereal to get soggy before eating it and I shake my bottle of coke before drinking it so it’s less fizzy.

Hi, I’m already testing the Herringbone Rib Pattern, you can see a picture of my started one on my blog. I think it is a great pattern. The minor thing that I would like different if you are looking for a little feed back is a cleaner edge stitch. Feel free to cursor pet my dogs while you are checking out my scarf! 🙂

    Hi
I love your blog, what a great site, it’s my first time here. I’d pat your pooch on the head but my own little monster would protest loudly (she sees and hears all – even at the age of 15!) 🙂
Could I have a copy of your herringbone scarf pattern? It’s so beautiful, I can’t wait to cast on…
    Many thanks,
    Karen

The Herringbone Rib is a great scarf! I’ve been knitting forever and I don’t usually bother with scarf patterns, but this one is fine. Please email a copy to blogless me. As for alternative breakfasts, “PIZZA, the Breakfast of Champions!” Anyone from NJ knows that!

Hi. Could you please send me the pattern for the herringbone scarf? I love the scarf and have wonderful handpainted yarns that would look lovely for it! I, alas, have no blog, only endless yearnings for great patterns on which to use my ever-increasing and luscious stash. This one fits the bill perfectly for those two skein stashes in the second drawer down in the spare bedroom dresser! Toby, my older chihuahua, says that the alpaca will do nicely for a small doggie scarf on teeny tiny needles (#4 – in perfect english with a south Texas accent!). Thanks, LeiLani
