Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

So much of life is out of our control, but I think I’m a believer that in some cases, suffering is optional. To some extent misery can be a choice. As Dsc01582 I look back over my almost year and a half of blogging I’ve found a recurring theme of the quest for comfort (comfort food, comfort yarn, comfort knitting…) which to me, is the opposite of suffering. So instead of dreading the coming work week on those blasted crutches, I spent the day cooking comfort food. Here we have it: meatballs, cabbage rolls and rice pudding. I could be a daily cabbage eater. Must be the Polish part of my Poli-Rican genes. I’m intending on trying out our new food saver thingy so cabbage rolls can become more a part of my life, as I am really the only one in the family who appreciates them.

Also got in some knitting time – presenting a baby-sized Marsan watch cap that I saw at Knittervention  (Dec 5th post):

Oh man! I love all of those! What time should I be over? 😉 Seriously, it’s been literally years since I made cabbage rolls. OOoohhh – and wouldn’t fried cabbage be good (in oh-so-healthy bacon grease of course). Now I’m going to be craving cabbage. Geez.

We’ve been eating lots of cabbage here. I just made cabbage and ham soup twice this week, and we gobbled every drop. I also have a wonderful cabbage/ ground beef casserole that is great. Sigh, but I sure don’t like the smell of it cooking! My comfort pudding of choice is tapioca, yum. Now that I think about it, I think that my favorite movies tend to be comfort movies. That is probably why so many of them are children’s movies, haha! I like to lose myself in thoughts of simpler times. I even will read children’s books as well. And here I thought it was because I am immature! Comfort sounds like a much better reason! Happy navigating at work, hope it goes well.

Sweet cap & delicious food! I love cabbage rolls & haven’t made them in ages–maybe I will now that I have been inspired by yours. Rice pudding is top of the list too. When do we come over for dinner?

I love the hat! I can leave the cabbage rolls. My birthday dinner, which I made myself, consisted of pork roast-soooo good!, Potatoes Anna with bacon drippings for flavor, Broccoli Salad-yummy!, and corn. Our Eldest asked that we serve it every week!
