Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

This will be my last post until the middle of next week, hopefully. Knee reconstruction calls.

I went for an anaesthesia/cardiology consult today and they will try to get by without a general considering my heart rhythm. It will be a spinal and enough sedative to be between snoring and really enjoying listening to screwdrivers and other power tools. Sure, I believe that. He said I’d feel so happy that I’ll even ask to watch what’s going on. Why am I doubtful? The other comfort (?) is that a friend has scheduled a mass for me on Monday. Too bad I can’t be there. To celebrate everything I bought a cane with purple flowers. Chuck says it’s very me.

I have knit three Shape It scarves over the past three weeks, finshed two other scarves and am just about done with one more. You know how I deal with stress? With a colour and texture tranquilizer:

Hope everything goes well with your operation, Li.
He’s right. When I had one of those with my emergency C-section, I was very curious as to what was happening the other side of the curtain they had set up 😉

All the best for your surgery. I had knee surgery many years ago, had a spinal, and it was great. I was calm and felt nothing.

I’ll be thinking of you! You’re all set with lots to knit during your down time, right? You’ll be back in the swing of things in no time.

I’ll be thinking of you this week. If it’s any comfort, I’ve had two knee surgeries – watched the first one and found it so boring I declined to watch the second. The surgery will probably be a piece of cake, but will have you in my prayers for the recovery part.

I wish you the best on your surgery. My sister had one of these done, and it was no big deal. And she has no pain tolerance and whines…you are going to do great! I hope that you recover quickly, we will be thinking of you.

I hope things go well for you! If they will let you bring an iPod or a Walkman into surgery, I’d opt for that just in case you don’t want to listen to them — I find that if you can’t really hear the power tools, it isn’t so bad. Alternatively, I guess you could try meditating or some other mental relaxation technique that would take your mind off things. And the one big plus — it’s your knee, so you can get lots of knitting done while recovering!
