Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

So how long should a scarf be? Please tell me that size doesn’t matter. Is 45" acceptable, 48", 70"? I’ve found scarves an excellent way to indulge in expensive yarns that I might  not otherwise buy. But sometimes two balls doesn’t seem quite enough for me. OK, get your minds out of the gutter. Any opinions on size? I once knit an 80" one and that seemed too much, but 45"? Really, I’m beginning to think size matters.

Here is my completed Fey Fantasia, measuring in at 54". I’d love to have it a bit longer but it is pricey yarn and there is no way I’m in for a fifth skein. It has a nice weight so it stays put when thrown over the shoulder. Some scarves don’t and need length to be wrapped around my neck. This was fun yarn to knit, even twice:

What a pretty scarf! I think that as long as you are happy with the results, size doesn’t matter.

Love your scarf! I like them a bit longer but so many patterns come shorter. Besides, if it stays where you want it..

Every comment I try to type ends up sounding like innuendo. 😉 It’s beautiful just as it is.

Ok…. as I giggle through your post… I can say that I usually make the scarf down around or past my knees – so that when I wrap it around my neck (in hopes of the whole Sex in the City look) the ends of the scarf will fall around my waist! However I tend to look goofy in scarves -so I might not be the best judge of what to do with a scarf… did that help – probably not – but oh well – just wanted to say hi and it looks great!!!!!

If you like to knit you may as well knit two short ones one for you and one for a friend who doesn’t knit.

Scarves are good all of the time–if they warm your neck, they serve the purpose! I am addicted to scarves of all kinds, and some are short, and some are very long. I just adore this argyle pattern! What yarn did you use? Very pretty 🙂

I love your scarf. Do you know of an online source for the yarn? I haven’t been able to find one, and just love the look of yours. 🙂
