I wasn’t dreaming after all

Dsc00331 Remember my post from the beginning of November when I was trying to locate some yarn I remembered seeing at a particular shop? It had teeny snow balls attached to the yarn. I called the shop and they had no idea what I was talking about. I told them I remembered something made of it hanging on the wall in the shop and they were still clueless. I had the opportunity to visit that shop while in WA; it was Jennings in LaConner. Sure enough, hanging on the wall was the poncho I remembered knit out of yarn with tiny snowballs. It’s Online Linie Iceland and looks like sleet or little hail pebbles attached to the yarn. It was a bit pricey for a sweater and I don’t need another poncho, so I bought two skeins to make a scarf; maybe in mistaken rib.

I’m hoping it stops raining here this weekend. We are having a monsoon and it’s rained over 220mms over the past I don’t know how many days. Apparently our town has been declared a disaster area because of mud slides. Although we are pretty high up the mountain we are on level ground with no steep inclines nearby. Others have not been as lucky. It has been a strange year weatherwise.

    Pretty, pretty yarn.
    Driving for us has been wild this week. We had a couple of commutes just way out there. We have to cross the flats out in Surrey/Cloverdale to get to our house and one night there seemed to be no way for me to get home without encountering one closed road after another. I drove through there in daylight yesterday and really realized how flooded that area really is. All the fields are huge lakes that are almost lapping onto the street.
    And we’re supposed to get more rain this weekend.

    I’m so glad you found it! I first fell in love with this yarn last summer when I saw it in a shop worked into a poncho from and online fall pattern book…I did the poncho, but not in that yarn. Now I’d love to find a great sale so I can do the same poncho in that very yarn. It really does make a pretty fabric.

    I love that snowball Linne Icelandic yarn. I would love to knit a scarf out of that some day. I liked the North Sea Colored one and the one that looks like midnight blue.
    Speaking of snowballs we are getting hit big time with a Blizzard out here in Stamford, CT. It is 5:09 AM and I was woken up by flying debris outside and the sound of a couple of plow trucks going way to fast on my block. It is this dry dusty snow perfect for skiing in Vermont. I wish I was in Vermont. If I get some money in real estate down the road I want to invest in an A-frame house in Vermont even if I am not the hot shot skier any more. I will join the red hat club for skiers. They are expecting up to 50 mile an hour winds here and an accumulation of 16 to 20 inches with some reports of 20 to 30 inces. Patrick slept over Lauren’s with her parents permission. He will be helping to shovel them out. Lauren (his girlfriend an only child,needs help for shoveling out the folks and the family. He is on loan because now we only have Jamie, me and Tony to shovel. We have the driveway plowed but we do the walk ways. So far there is like 14 inches or more on the ground.
    I would love a poncho out of that snowball yarn or a cute hat with beads on it. I noticed they didn’t have any pink colors to select from. Pink is so big out here and has been for while.
    My real estate application has been found (Hurray for the wheels that turn the state real estate unit in the Dept. of Consumer Affairs. They received it Dec. 13th mind you. Next week or so I will be able to take the test. It looks like I have heavy duty studying to do every day. I don’t want to have to take any part of this test twice. By the way if you want to knit me a snowball thin long tie it would look cute on my pink cotten sweaters. I could tie it in a bow or wear it just a tie and interweave long, custume 32 inch pearls in pink or pink crystal beads with the scarf. Anyway, I am enjoying your website very much. When are you knitting Gracie a dog coat? Pink would be cute for her.
