Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

I’m not going to disguise this as anything other than plain old complaining.

Complaint #1: Why is it, that I can’t wear an article of brand new
clothing without staining it? Picture it: last night, new pair of
khaki’s, artichokes for dinner, margarine spillage. Followed by
applications of: Folex instant spot remover, Spot Shot instant stain
remover, soap and water, ammonia cleaner and dishwasher detergent. Spot
still there.

Complaint #2: What possessed me to buy such a bad CD? Usually
careful of my music purchases, I was so in love with Pink Martini’s
Hang On Little Tomato, that I impulsively purchased their other two
CD’s AND booked tickets to their live performance at the upcoming
Vancouver Jazz festival. You might like it, but if by chance your music tastes
are similar to mine, and according to my husband, not many other’s are,
steer clear of their most recent release: Hey Eugene.

I am comforted by the fact that the weekend’s shopping wasn’t all bad. I think this is the yummiest yarn I’ve ever purchased and I’ve bought a lot. So soft, cotton candy and white clouds on a blue sky, a pink Hanami to be.

A reminder – good CD:

Bad CD:

Really bad. You’d think I’d have gotten the hint by the picture of a drunken woman squatting on the  bathroom floor. That’s just what the CD sounds like.

That’s the way I used to buy music. Now, I just wait for their greatest hits album. But I still buy yarn, sight unseen!
The cotton candy pink is gorgeous!

I have friends that attended a Pink Martini concert (after the Hang On Little Tomato CD was released) and they said it was really good so I don’t think you have to worry about the concert. That bad CD cover art cracks me up!

That Malabrigo is just in my colors! Looks good enough to eat. Hey, I dreamed last night about going yarn shopping with you and blogless Marsha!

I felt the same way about the Pink Martini cd with the exception of a couple of songs. I saw them last summer shortly after the release of the new cd and hearing the new songs live seemed to improve them.

Love Malabrigo lace. LOVE LOVE LOVE! 😀 Thanks for the heads up on the CD. Isn’t it one of those laws of life… they’re trying to be risque and snarky and it turns out their cd really is shit.

Awe, so much bad luck. At least the yarn is awesome!

Love the colors of your Malabrigo Lace. I always buy a CD for one song thinking the rest should be good and I am usually disapointed.

Ah ha ha. That is SO funny. Drunk woman squatting on the bathroom floor. It definitely doesn’t sound appealing. PS. That Malabrigo looks so soft and squishy!

Before I buy a CD, I’ll listen to the excerpts on ITunes. That has saved me a pretty penny…..and then if I find one song I like , I just download that song. More $$$ for yarn 😉 and no wasted songs 🙂

For the stain – get some Lestoil – it smells bad because it’s a petrolum by-product but it works.
Pour it on to the greasy stain and rub it in. Wash normally and the stain will be gone… smelly but gone. It’s the only thing that works. The smell will eventually go away after another wash.

Your yarn is so beautiful and comforting. Perhaps you should buy an album with a cover that matches. If the CD is so evil, maybe try playing it backwards. But it really seems that the band has “a broad range”, plus, they’ll be so different in concert.

The last sentence of your post just cracked me up! And I think we’ve all been there. As the Yarn Harlot would say, spend a little time with your gorgeous yarn, it’ll take the edge off.

That Malabrigo is yummy indeed. It will be a very pretty Hanami. I love the first two Pink Martini albums. Are there any redeeming songs at all on the new one? I’ve not heard it yet, and maybe don’t want to now.

I just heard Pink Martini on The Tonic on CBC Radio 2. It was new and brilliant.
