Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

Dear Amazin’ Gracee, the stubborn, not very smart due to a head injury at three weeks old, rescue Scottie, received her own phone call the other day. We have some overpriced minimal doggie health insurance that gets charged to our Mastercard on a monthly basis. This month our expiry date changed and Grace was the recipient of one of those automated voice messages, which pronounced her name "Amazon Grace." Can’t you picture a huge Amazon scotty? I guess she is bordering on that image as the vet told us the other day, that at 24 lbs, she’s becoming a chubby puppy. Poor Grace going to have to go on a diet with the rest of us.

Dsc02101_2Speaking of amazing, thanks for the comments on the Amazing Lace photo from my last post. I haven’t been responding to comments as my computer is temporarily out of commission again. So, the truth is, as if you didn’t know, it’s not my car. And they weren’t even my sunglasses; a girl can dream, can’t she? Truthfully I can’t even dream about that kind of stuff, being blessed with some sort of practical gene. Apparently my daughter didn’t get that gene as she spent $150 on those shades. I haven’t spent $150 on all the sun glasses I’ve bought in my life. Just a matter of differing priorities. How about Regal silk for the Amazing Lace as a priority?

I have the perfect doogie weight loss plan for Miss Gracie. Sullivan ( our black lab) was turing into a chunky monkey over the winter so I started him on my marathon training program. He runs 8 to 10 miles with me every other day. He now has a tiny waist again and lost 9 pounds! I call him my 4 legged exercise machine! Tell Miss Gracie Aunt Jane will help her when I come out in July. That will give her enough time to hide her leash! hee!hee!

I’m with you – can you imagine how much yarn you could buy with $150??? I’m getting so I always think before I buy something, “How much yarn would that buy?” Driving around by the bridge instead of taking the ferry saves me about $8.00 – at least one pair of socks from Knit Picks yarn. Eating fast food – another $8-$10, a couple of times of foregoing that makes a pair of socks from Lorna’s Laces! Gotta be practical about these things. By the way, hubby and I will be at the Highland Games in Coquitlam on Saturday. Holler if you have any plans to be over that way (as if you have time right now to play!).

I carry my dogs’ extra weight for them. (at least that’s my excuse to my dr.) The vet was amazed at how trim Elvis was last week.

One of my daughter’s many rescues included a duck with a broken leg (we still have him and he gimps around the back yard) got a postcard not too long ago from our vet: “Dear Duck:” it said… blah, blah, time to come in for a followup visit… I thought that pretty funny, actually.
BTW: my new favorite luxury yarn. Hand Maiden’s Lady Godiva… OMG!!! Knitting Knitty’s “Ella” shawl with it. Positively gorgeous… may be a Xmas gift… maybe… 😉
