Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

What are the chances that two people in the same room will share a birthday?  Although it doesn’t seem to make sense mathematically, I read once that in a room of 15 people there was a good chance that two will share the same birthday. Consider my office, there are just over 20 of us. We’ve blown that stat right off the map as four of us were born on the Ides of March.

How about my daughter’s wedding? I’ve been howling now and then that she’s getting married too young. Today I hear from a close friend, and invitee to the wedding, that their daughter, a year younger than ours, is getting married on the same day. I’m sure there is a theory of something that could have predicted these events.

I’m on a search for a picture I saw on a blog. What is the chance the blog belongs to one of you or that you visited and remembered that blog? My middle age mind has a muddled memory. I’m on a hunt for the name of a pattern one of you used for a baby sweater. What made it different was the fact that it was black. It had primary colours as accents, a matching hat, a checkerboard pattern on the sweater and spirals on the hat. Very cute and very practical. Any ideas? Will one of you please come forward and straighten out my brain.

(UPDATE: Thank you, Kathy, for identifying that the pattern was from a particular Paton’s booklet AND for finding it for me on e-bay!)

Hi Li, What a lovely pattern in that scarf. Where is the snow ball yarn? Check your e-mail from me.

I know so many people with birthdates in March, My boss, her daughter (also the 15th), myself, and the list goes on and on.

The stitches really are more pronounced in the red than the black.

Yes, all great people are born in March aren’t they? Mine is also the 15th and my soon to be DIL is the 13th!

My mom is a March baby, but she was born on March 7. My little family all have February birthdays–me on 2/7, husband on 2/12, and daughter on 2/13. I just checked my work birthday list, and out of about 30 of us, 2 have the same birthday. Of course, the list is outdated, and one of those girls no longer works with us.
C’est la vie is tres magnifique! Where did you find the pattern? Also, is that a sewing cutting board you are using for a blocking board? Why didn’t I think of that?? 🙂

Not me. But, I just had to tell you my Hubster was born on the Ides of March. And we once attended a wedding on our Anniversary, which happened to be *Derby Day for both weddings and sat at a table which had 2 other Derby Day anniversaries. But since Derby Day isn’t always the same date each year, the other 2 had different dates. The last couple were married in August, but we made them honorary Derby Day couples.
*Kentucky Derby, horse race, Louisville, KY, about 2 hours from us.

I think the pattern you are looking for is found in Paton’s pattern book #914 GG. There’s a picture on the back of a cute little Oriental boy all dressed in black knits accented with rainbow colored yarn.

I just saw the book on ebay. There is only one. There’s a little girl on the front cover wearing a pink, yellow, orange varigated sweater. She’s leaning on her hand. I hope this is what you’re looking for.
