Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

Life in my family:

1. DD, 22-yrs-old, having finished her degree last June, has decided to get married in July.

2. Future son-i-l is not through with school, with at least two more years to go, eight months at a Bible college.

3. We would like them to wait.

4. Not possible as the Bible college requires a marriage certificate if cohabiting.

5. We would like them to wait. If it can wait eight months then its meant to be, if it can’t…

6. Said Bible college is outside of Moose Jaw, SK, affectionately known as Moose Breath in our house. There is no shortage of nurses there and requires DD to sell her apartment in order to move.

7. We would like them to wait, but nothing this set of parents says makes any difference.

8. We’re all talking, so that’s good. Some more enthusiastically than others.

9. I know, it could be a lot worse. There’s a chance it will all work out, they may end up the happiest couple on earth. But what’s the rush?

10. Just when life gets a little exciting, something happens to make it more so. Consider my SIL. She’s a knitter, has been a guest blogger here and I’ve written about her yarn acquisitions. Well, on Sunday, she gained an acquisition of another variety. Her 23-yr-old daughter called her from the local hospital, in an excited state. Surprise! Upon arriving, SIL was presented with unanticipated granddaughter #2. Long story, beautiful baby.

11. And 15-yr-old son brought home his report card with a considerable drop in grades from last term.

Dsc01593I’m Olympic knitting, no time for pictures, so how about one of Gracee watching a scene from the Parrots of Telegraph Hill

Dsc01307_1 or the birds at our feeder.

Sounds like it’s all about to reach critical mass – you know I’ll be thinking of you!

Maybe you could sell it to a network and they’ll make a tv show from it and you’ll be rich! 😉
Really, I hope everything works out ok for everyone.

Some day you’ll look back on this and laugh! Really? Well, maybe not, but keep telling yourself that and it will help get through the days. At least they’re talking to you (even if not listening) and that’s good. Gracie is cute and is a perfect match for my two! They’d make a perfect threesome, although Hester would probably welcome her and Kirby would not. He gets a little territorial. When I get back from Orlando, we’ll have to meet at Hellen’s for a little yarn therapy!

Hang in there! This too shall pass….
The birds picture is gorgeous! The Parrots movie was really good too – although I have to say my dogs show no interest in movies at all!

There’s been no knitting here for a few days!
Mom and baby#2 are staying with us through the weekend. Baby#1 has visited, but will be arriving to stay later today. She’s healthy and beautiful… and so are the babies. There will be no knitting for a few days!

Ha! Twenty-some years ago, everyone tried to talk my husband out of marrying me. Now I think, they should have been trying to talk me out of marrying him! Not that I would have listened at the time anyway……

I am new to your blog so I have been getting to know you by clicking around. We have some things in common other than the knitting. I also wear socks 24 hours a day but only from October thru March and I also get migraines: 3 different kinds in three different parts of my head. Mucho fun! And lastly, I have a cousin who suffered from severe arrythmias and recently went to see a cardiologist in Lubbock,Texas, Dr.Carlos Rizo-Patron, who specializes in treating this with some new(?), minimally invasive technique done on an out-patient basis. She is feeling quite well. Anyway, just a little info.

I got married at age 22. He was also 22, and we were fresh out of college (graduated in May, got married in December). We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary a few months ago. Should we have waited and gotten more established in our careers? Yes. But we didn’t. Would we change a thing? Not on your life! 🙂

Whew – it sounds like you have had a busy few days! Thanks for your comments on my blog re: adoption – the words of encouragement are appreciated! I don’t have much advice over whether your daughter should get married or not…I married my high school sweetheart, who I lived with for 12 years before actually marrying…so I’m of the waiting variety. All you can do is trust your daughter to make the right choice for her…

If I pinch you hard enough, will this all turn out to have been some sort of dream? I agree, if this story weren’t true, you’d think it was some sort of farfetched soap opera plot. Hang in there and keep knitting to keep yourself sane!

Oh life, it’s just a bowl of rotten fruit sometimes. But then at times it’s a bowl of perfectly ripened, sweet as can be fruit. HOpe your rotten fruit turns to wonderful sweet fruit soon.

So whatta ya gonna do ? Children. The older they get, the less we can control. But at least you’re talking, and that is a good thing, Li.
