Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

This weekend Gracee graduated from the school of mouse hunting to hunting bigger things. She was begging to go outside and I knew she had just been out so I wasn’t inclined to give in to her pleas. I heard Mari’s b/f Mitch ask Bryant to take her out, but I was busy and didn’t interfere, thinking it couldn’t hurt. Was I wrong. Next thing I hear is Mitch’s ultra calm voice saying “There’s a big-ass bear out there and Gracee is barking at it.” Holy, I took one look at 20 lb Grace, barking into the face of a 300 plus pound bear and hysterically went inside not wanting to see white fur fly. It was a long minute before Mitch was calmly dragging in by the collar an unhappy, but all in one piece, Grace. That dog has no clue as to her size. Although I am grateful for his bravery, Mitch has no clue how dangerous a hungry bear can be:

Nadia was right when she called Marina an epic knit. I hope following this project isn’t as boring as reading the Illiad; it certainly isn’t a boring knit. Really, if you look at all the photos consecutively, there is progress:

And in the chaos, you grab a camera! OMG. We have deer and the occasional coyote – they are NOTHING in comparison to that giant thing.

WOW! That is one big bear! Straight from mice to black bears – some dogs are fearless. Miles has decided to take on crows. When he goes out into the yard, it looks and sounds like a scene from a Hitchcock movie. Birds swooping down at him and a roar(?) of cawing. All because he decided to play ‘catch and release’ with a baby crow that had fallen out of the nest.
I’m glad to hear that Gracee and her rescuer are safe. Coming between a bear and food isn’t a good place to be.
Marina looks great – the colours are beautiful.

And I complain about our rats. I’m glad Gracee is ok – could certainly have had a different outcome, but how brave of her (and foolish!). Marina is really looking beautiful

What are the 7 peaks of knitting? Gian Gomeshi was talking about mountain climbing on Sounds Like Canada. But think of all the time they wasted when they could be knitting. I think Marina is there on the list. Which lace, which ultimate cabled sweater? What do you think? Love your blog and hope to bump into you one day if I ever get out of Chilliwack to go wool shopping. Angie

Hey, I was a good 10ft from that fuzzball! He was too happy with the cake in that trash to worry about the likes of me 😛 Love that dog though!
