Life's a Stitch

And more recently life’s a creative adventure with some travel thrown in.

I grew up just outside of New York City. We saw wild animals from time to time – squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies and the occasional raccoon. Stories of people getting eaten up by wild things were reserved for fairy tales. You heard stories of alligators coming up through the toilet, but did that really happen? Now I live just outside of Vancouver, BC, about the same distance from downtown as I lived in New York. I generally hate stereotypes (all Americans own guns and Canada is a vast, cold wilderness far from civilization), but I feel like I’m living in one. Over the past two months, in our driveway, we’ve had a cougar, a skunk, a fox, a coyote and a bear.

On to knitting: Noro Silk Garden – wonderful to knit with despite the gigundous slubs and a knot in each skein. There definitely is more Noro in my future.

The slubs I can live with…they add texture, albeit a bit too much occasionally. The knots are a pain, and irritate me. But what can you do….there is no substitute for Silk Garden…yet.
How, by the way, does a digital scale tell you how much yarn you have left? Is there a way to convert the weight to yards, that you have discovered? I suppose I could put my brain cells to work and figure that out easily enough, now that I think about it at all. Of course it necessitates keeping the label so you know the yardage and grams when you started. Who knew knitting was such a good way to learn math, AND organizational skills.

Yep, and don’t forget the millions of squirrels (that feed all of the above). You’ve encouraged me to buy Noro – bad girl! I like the pale colours in the last post. Are they the same project as this one? Which is Gracee and which is Mari?
    Cheers!

Stopped by your blog after reading your post in a yahoo group.
I’m using Silk Garden for Klaralund. Although I like it, like you, I’m finding the foreign matter and knots.
Your Fair Isle Sweater is really pretty.
    Enjoying your blog! 🙂
Sorry to hear about your car. Hope all goes well.

I just ordered my first skein of Noro and now I can’t wait to try it. I have a toddler and was familiar with the Nemo song. I LOVED and laughed at your version. I won’t be able to watch that scene without thinking of you now.
Thanks for the laugh – Angela
